Glasfryn
Raikes Lane,
Sychdyn,
MOLD,
CH7 6LR
Built as a Judge's residence in about 1900, Glasfryn was rescued by the present owners at the end of the last century and transformed into a busy pub. Today, this North Wales pub attracts a varied clientele, from holidaymakers to farmers and business people. Inside is a bright open space with lots of polished wooden tables and chairs, whilst outside you'll find an attractively landscaped garden. A good choice of beers and ciders complements the comprehensive daily menu, which runs from interesting sandwiches like Mediterranean vegetables with goat's cheese and pesto ciabatta; and crispy lamb wrap with hoi sin sauce; to three course meals. Start, perhaps, with beetroot, goat's cheese, orange and pomegranate salad; before moving on to steak, ale and mushroom suet pudding with creamed potatoes and vegetables. Leave space for dessert - bread and butter pudding with apricot sauce and clotted cream is a typical choice.

I cannot recommend this place enough if you are looking for restaurant quality food served in a friendly welcoming atmosphere. Brightly decorated and spotlessly furnished, this large pub sits on top of a hill with superb views of Mold. The food really is top notch and served with a smile. I had the slow roasted duck leg with cucumber and orange salad, and it just blew me away. Reasonably priced and with a good selection of beers, this is one place that should not be missed if you're in the area.
