The Navigation Inn

MAESBURY MARSH, SY10 8JB

Otherwise known as 'the Navvy', this canal-side pub maximises the appeal of its red-brick and stone-built industrial heritage; the restaurant was a canal warehouse in the 18th century. Comfortable sofas, a wealth of beams, log fire and piano all add to the bar's appeal, not to mention the range of Oswestry's Stonehouse ales on tap. Outside in summer, benches on the patio by the canal are much sought after. The kitchen applies strong ethical standards to the sourcing of its meats and fish, and deals directly with local producers whenever possible. A typical menu choice could be baked camembert with roasted garlic, followed by Welsh beef Wellington with wild mushrooms.
