Telegraph Road, Putney Heath, LONDON, SW15 3TU
This pub was close to an Admiralty telegraph station between London and Portsmouth, and has been involved in the sale of beer since before 1856. Although it's only five minutes from the hustle and bustle of Putney High Street, The Telegraph feels more like a country pub. Certainly the focus on well-kept real ales cannot be faulted, with Naked Ladies from Twickenham Fine Ales well worth a try. The menu, with its pub fare and contemporary European dishes, includes grazing boards and chicken, chorizo and haloumi skewers to start, and mains of braised lamb shank, roast duck breast, steaks and burgers.
