The White House
Blackstone Edge,
Halifax Road,
LITTLEBOROUGH,
OL15 0LG
1,300 feet above sea level on the Pennine Way, this 17th-century coaching house has panoramic views of the moors and Hollingworth Lake far below. Not surprising, then, that it attracts walkers and cyclists who rest up and sup on Theakstons and regular guest ales. It's been known as The White House for over 100 years and has been in the same hands for just over 28 of them. A simple menu of pub grub ranges from sandwiches and starters like grilled haloumi cheese, to grills, curries, chilli and traditional dishes such as battered scampi or Cumberland sausage with fried egg.

excellent food, friendly efficient service and superb views. This was our second recent visit, and needless to say it won't be our last.
