The Pound

Have a pint of Ludlow Gold or Stonehouse Station Bitter and you'll be following in the footsteps of all those who've enjoyed a drink here since the thatched building (which dates to around 1457) became an inn in 1823. It's a comfortable, relaxed place, and the bright, airy dining room has a contemporary feel while making the most of original features. There's also a garden with a patio for alfresco dining. The menu includes a 'classics' section featuring beer battered cod and triple-cooked chips, fish pie and rib-eye steak, as well as starters like fresh crab salad with pink grapefruit, avocado and apple; or wild garlic and bacon soup. Mains might include rare breed pork, ham hock croque monsieur, heritage carrots, thyme and honey; or blue cheese, chestnut and beetroot ravioli, shallot and pine nut dressing.
