The Royal Oak

Situated in the southern Peak District, this warm-hearted hostelry welcomes one and all, at any time of day. Tired ramblers and cyclists head straight for the pumps, where five real ales include locals such as Whim Hartington, Thornbridge and Peak Ales. Families with children and dogs add to the fun, arriving in the knowledge that generous plates of home-cooked pub food are served throughout the day. Most ingredients are seasonal and sourced within 20 miles of the pub from suppliers with trusted reputations. Look out for the likes of millionaire's fish pie; wild mushroom and Stilton risotto; pork fillet, Grand Marnier cream sauce and black pudding mash; or blackened Cajun salmon with lemon oil dressing. Sharing platters for two or three are also available.
