The Fox and Hounds
Description
Nestled in a sleepy village in the heart of the Hertfordshire countryside, this pub has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and a large pretty garden. The bar is stocked with a fine array of locally brewed real ales, and meals can be taken in the bar, the lounge and the large, homely dining room. Expect serious, inspired cooking that combines classics with modern touches. Lunch could begin with mussels, cider, leeks and cream; or sautéed squid, chorizo and butter beans, followed by roast skate wing, lentils and salsa verde; or perhaps calves' liver persillade and duck fat potato cake. For dinner, perhaps celeriac, chestnut and pancetta soup; or sliced breast of mallard with watercress salad, followed by whole roast partridge and braised lentils; or fillet of black bream, mussels and saffron. Clementine and Campari jelly is an elegant way to round matters off.

Yum yum. Great to finally find a pub where you can go and get a decent non-microwaved meal, cooked by a real chef award winning if the website is to go by. Spent Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago and had a great meal and some excellent wine. I liked the fact that the beers where not the rubbishy mass produced stuff chains give you. Recommended.
