Rose & Crown (Eli's)

Locked in a glorious time-warp, this 17th-century thatched inn, affectionately known as Eli's, (named after the current licensees' grandfather) has been in the same family for over 150 years. Don't expect to find a bar counter, there's a flagstoned taproom where customers congregate. In the four parlour rooms you'll find an upright piano, dart board, time-honoured pub games, books and old family photographs. Home-made food includes popular steak and ale pie; pork, apple and cider cobbler, cauliflower cheese, soups and ploughman's lunches. There's a pool table and jukebox in a large function room. Other attractions include a children's outdoor play area, skittle alley, regular quizzes and live music nights and on Fridays, an organic food co-op.
