Main Street, HOVINGHAM, YO62 4LA
This village hotel and pub form part of the Worsley family's historic Hovingham Hall Estate. Hambleton Stallion from nearby Thirsk, and Black Sheep from Masham are on tap in the Cricketers' Bar (the local team has played on the village green for over 150 years). You can eat here or in the restaurant; lunch and afternoon tea are also served in the large walled garden. Lunchtime choices could include a selection of sandwiches; while the à la carte lists such dishes as Loch Fyne salmon three ways; Goosnargh duck and foie gras terrine; red mullet, green tomato consommé, black olive tapenade, potato gnocchi and Mediterranean vegetables; and Wye Valley asparagus ravioli, 30-month aged parmesan, Morell mushroom broth, pied de bleu mushrooms and basil oil. The pub hosts regular wine evenings and a supper club.
