Earle Arms

The Street, HEYDON, Nr Aylsham, NR11 6AD

Horse-racing memorabilia adorn the walls of this 16th-century free house, courtesy of the horse-racing mad landlord. Situated on the green in a pretty, privately owned village, it is thought that Oliver Cromwell once stayed here, and Heydon itself is often used as a film location, so stars of stage and screen have enjoyed a good choice of dishes complemented by daily specials. One of the two rooms offers service through a hatch to the tables in the attractive back garden. There is a beer festival held on St George's Day.
