The Street, HEYDON, Nr Aylsham, NR11 6AD
H, the landlord and chef, is responsible for the horseracing memorabilia throughout this 16th-century, Dutch-gabled free house on the village green. As part-owner of a racehorse, he will gladly give you a tip, but says it's probably best not to go nap on it. The privately owned conservation village of Heydon is often used for filming, and many a star of the big and small screen has enjoyed the Earle's off-the-pier-fresh seafood, game from local estates and locally reared meats. A beer festival is held in May.
