Especially on Fridays and Saturdays this rather engaging, whitewashed pub just over Henley's famous bridge from the town gets pretty packed - and for good reasons, including the really chic interior, with warming colours and an open fire (oh, and the odd black lab); the well compiled wine list; the real ales that come from Brakspear; and the exceptional modern menu. Try fish stew of conger, plaice, mussels and clams in rich tomato sauce; or pan-fried confit duck hash. Sundays are "unbelievably busy" but don't worry, lunch is served all day.
