Bottle & Glass

High Street, HARBY, NG23 7EB

One of the Exceedingly Small group's three pubs, the Bottle & Glass is in the village where Edward I's wife, Eleanor, died in 1290. With flagged floors and heavy beams, it offers beers brewed on the premises and London Gold and Black Sheep real ales, and a generous 24 wines by the glass. Starters on the short, seasonal lunch and dinner menu include twice baked soufflé with Stilton and leeks; and beer-battered squid with garlic and herb mayonnaise. Mains typically include grilled wild sea bass, leek mash, buttered spinach and beurre blanc; and slow-cooked lamb shoulder, fondant potato, green beans, redcurrant and mint sauce. On sunny days stake an early claim for a terrace table.
