Bottle & Glass

High Street, HARBY, NG23 7EB

Just seven miles west of Lincoln, this lovely old free house is situated in the peaceful village of Harby - famous for being where Edward I's wife Eleanor is said to have died in 1290. Compact and convivial, with flagged floors and heavy beams, the pub offers great food, beginning with full English breakfast and with sandwiches and light meals available all day. Seasonal main dishes include baked cheese soufflé with purple sprouting broccoli and beetroot; or line-caught cod with spinach, new potatoes and pink grapefruit rind sauce. There's also a wide selection of tapas dishes. Inevitably, the terrace is popular on sunny days.
