The Bell

A centuries-old inn that is independent and privately owned, and conveniently sited for Oxford, Bicester Village shopping outlet and Blenheim Palace. The charms of its oak beams and time-worn flagstone floors are complemented by the dining area with an open kitchen featuring an eye-catching wood-burning oven, from which are produced rustic pizzas and other dishes. These, along with burgers and salads, are served in the bar at any time. There are plenty of other dishes to choose from including game terrine with cornichons, caramelised shallots and toast; and cold rare beef sirloin with celeriac remoulade, string chips, mustard and horseradish. Finish with ginger and lemon syrup sponge with rhubarb compôte and custard. Should you have a well-behaved dog, he or she will be welcome to join you in the bar or out on the delightful south-facing terrace.
