A contemporary gastro-pub completely renovated and refurbished by Shona and Jeremy Wares since they took it over in 2007. With its six en suite bedrooms, the Anglers is popular for small fishing and shooting parties; it's also only two miles from Perth racecourse. Comfortable leather chairs and a log fire induce a relaxed and homely atmosphere, ideal surroundings in which to sample one of the Inveralmond Brewery ales on offer at the bar. Expect food prepared to an award-winning standard: typical choices for a three-course dinner from the carte could include starters of potted Morecambe brown shrimps and Skye prawns, or fried herb and tomato risotto cake. Main courses could comprise roast herb marinated rump of lamb with haggis hack, or free-range chicken breast stuffed with black pudding. Banana and rum crème brûlée or sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce are typical of the desserts.
