Duke of York

Brow Top, GRINDLETON, BB7 4QR

In the heart of the Ribble Valley, this creeper-clad pub dates from 1863 and remains the centre of village life. Low ceilings, flagstones and log fires provide plenty of character, as do the various nooks and crannies. Huddle around the bar for pints of Black Sheep with the locals, or head to the restaurant where modern dishes showcase the best local produce - potted shrimps on toast might be followed by roasted breast of Goosnargh chicken with celeriac and pearl barley risotto. A lovely garden is perfect for alfresco dining.
