The oak beams and log fires provide a relaxed, old-world feel to this charming 18th-century village pub run by chef Will Frankgate and his wife Kelly. The excellent food at The Blue Bell is more contemporary with innovative new dishes rubbing shoulders with old favourites. Typical choices include marinated Cornish mackerel fillet, pickled turnips, preserved lemon, coriander yogurt; or Gressingham duck breast with carrot purée, braised red cabbage, fondant potato and glazed fig sauce; with steaks, burgers and fish and chips for more traditional palates. Lunchtime sandwiches are also served.
