The Falcon Inn

FOTHERINGHAY, Nr Oundle, PE8 5HZ

This attractive 18th-century, stone-built pub stands in gardens overlooking the stunning church. It's a real local, the Tap Bar regularly used by the village darts team, their throwing arms lubricated by pints of Fool's Nook ale. The menus in both the bar and charming conservatory restaurant rely extensively on locally sourced ingredients. In the spring, restaurant offerings are smoked ham hock and rabbit terrine and piccalilli to start, followed by lamb three ways - roast loin, confit shoulder and sweetbreads with pommes Anna, niçoise vegetables and red pepper jus. Hopefully there'll still be room for lemon curd tartlet with honey ice cream.
