The Old Cock Inn

Friar Street, DROITWICH, WR9 8EQ

Three stained-glass windows, rescued from a church destroyed during the Civil War, are a feature of this charming pub, first licensed during the reign of Queen Anne. The stone carving with a frog emerging from its mouth above the front entrance is believed to portray Judge Jeffreys, who is said to have held one of his assizes here. A varied menu, including snacks, platters and more substantial dishes - salmon with a sweet chilli coating; pasta with roasted vegetables and pesto; lamb chop trio; and bacon, egg and chips - is supplemented by the daily specials.
