Bat & Ball Inn

No surprise that the bar here is packed to the gunnels with cricketing memorabilia, but the charm of this former coaching inn extends to beamed ceilings, flagstone floors and solid wood furniture warmed by an open log fire. The house ale 'LBW' is flanked by interesting and well-kept guests. A comprehensive seasonal menu, supplemented by daily specials, is likely to include the Bat burger, home made from steak and with a choice of toppings; and slow-braised shoulder of lamb. Look out for clay pigeon shoots, pig roasts, steak nights and sausage and mash evenings. The pub is in an ideal spot for walkers.
