The Swan

A friendly gastro-pub, The Swan is much appreciated by locals for its international range of beers and cosmopolitan atmosphere. A pub for all seasons, it has a welcoming wood-panelled interior and a large lawned garden and patio for summertime refreshments. Good food is at the heart of the operation, and you can sit and eat wherever you like. The menu of modern, mostly Mediterranean cooking has a particular Italian influence, and vegetarians are not forgotten. Start perhaps with bruschetta di Pomodoro - grilled Pugliese bread with vine tomatoes and basil; a vegetarian option could be Turkish 'pizza' - feta, spinach, onion, pine nuts and pomegranate. Next comes the main course: penne with Italian sausage ragout, or Andalusian oxtail casserole with judion beans, chorizo, mushrooms and paprika. If you still have an appetite, then finish off with apple and blackberry crumble with ice cream, or pannacotta with orange compôte. Current real ales are listed on the menu along with the next guest ale and 'wine of the moment'.
