The Highway Inn

117 High Street, BURFORD, OX18 4RG

An attractive inn of medieval origin at the heart of pretty Burford; the secluded courtyard garden to the rear is a blissful retreat from the hurly-burly of this ancient town. Beers from the likes of Hook Norton, together with local cider are the order of the day. The relaxing interior, with lots of dressed stone, open fire, bric--brac and cosy corners is popular with diners drawn to the unfussy, high-quality menu of seasonal dishes. Cotswold largesse is exampled by mains like oven-roasted breast of pheasant with game jus; home-made pies and the renowned rack of ribs. A beer festival takes place at the beginning of June.
