The Fox

The Street, BROUGHTON GIFFORD, SN12 8PN

The excellent ales at this village pub are augmented in the summer months when it hosts a beer and cider festival. Food standards are high too. The owners raise their own chickens, ducks and pigs, tend an extensive vegetable and herb garden, and barter with villagers for wildfowl and other produce. Bread is either baked in the kitchen or provided by the ethical Thoughtful Bread Company. Plans are afoot to build a smokehouse in the grounds, as the pub already produces cured hams, charcuterie and sausages from its pigs. Typical dishes on the menus are Cornish crab quiche; roasted pheasant crown; goats' cheese pesto ravioli; and lamb suet pudding.
