Blacksmiths Arms

Talkin, BRAMPTON, CA8 1LE

With cartwheels lined up outside, this former smithy faces a small green by the crossroads in the centre of the village. On its doorstep is northern Cumbria's wildly beautiful countryside. The menu of good, traditional home cooking makes extensive use of fresh local produce for smoked haddock and spring onion fishcakes; creamy chicken and leek pie; liver and bacon casserole; Barnsley double lamb chop; and fisherman's pie. At lunchtime a choice of sandwiches, paninis and baked potatoes is offered. Four real ales are always available; there's a beer garden, and out front a couple of tables with seating.
