47 Parsons Street, BANBURY, OX16 5NA
Cotswold-brewed beers from the renowned Hook Norton Brewery draw in a lively local clientele to this historic pub right at the core of old Banbury, just a stone's throw from the Cross of nursery-rhyme fame. Its origins go back to Tudor times, and during the Civil War, Oliver Cromwell himself is believed to have directed his commanders in the richly panelled Globe Room. Weekly events include live music, steak nights and quizzes. Enjoy good, solid pub grub in the traditional, time-worn, classic interior or indulge in a game of Aunt Sally in the flower-decked courtyard. A sampling of dishes includes venison pie, fish and chips, bangers and mash, and sticky toffee pudding and custard.
