ASHBY ST LEDGERS, Rugby, CV23 8UN
This mellow stone inn (The OCH) sits amidst thatched cottages in the lovely estate village here; until a century ago it was a farmhouse. Today it's an engaging mix of contemporary and rustic, with a strong emphasis on comfort; deep leather furnishings tempt you to linger by log fires, wondering at the function of the archaic rural artefacts on display. The courtyard dining area is a popular place to sample the extensive fare which ranges from home-made, stone-fired pizzas and 'design your own' grazing boards to dishes such as baked wild sea bass, chorizo, butter beans and crushed new potatoes. Fifteen boutique-style bedrooms are available.
