The Valiant Trooper

For centuries lucky locals have been enjoying this old pub in the quintessential Chilterns village of Aldbury beneath the beech woods of Ashridge Park. The Duke of Wellington allegedly discussed strategy with his troops here; when the famous warrior died it was named in his honour.
