The Abbot's Elm

Situated in the delightful village of Abbots Ripton, the exterior of this pub looks pretty much as it has done over the centuries but step inside and you'll find that the open-plan bar and restaurant are bathed in natural light. In the bar are Oakham Ales JHB and guests, nearly 30 wines by the glass, and lunchtime sandwiches, ploughman's and croque monsieurs. Generous daily-changing menus offer glazed chicken wings with hickory-smoked barbecue sauce; roast cod, baby winter vegetables, saffron and shellfish chowder; and seared calves' liver, grain-mustard mash, creamed cabbage and smoked bacon. Your children and your dog will appreciate the garden space.
