Free card and no need for credit checks
The AA Spend and Earn Card is free, with no monthly fee and guaranteed availability for all customers, as credit checks are not needed.4 You can also top up free by bank transfer, and we have waived the fee for making card purchases in the UK.
You can use the card for your everyday purchases in the same way as you would a debit card. The difference is that you load the card with cash before you shop, rather than paying for purchases afterwards.

Latest news from the AA FSA regulatory body1 The prepaid card is an electronic money product and although it is a product regulated by the Financial Services Authority, it is not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. No other compensation scheme exists to cover losses claimed in connection with the prepaid card. This means that in the event that Newcastle Building Society becomes insolvent your funds may become valueless and unusable and as a result you may lose your money.
2 Motoring spending includes purchases from any car garage (eg for parts, repairs, servicing, MoT testing), fuel purchases (diesel, petrol or LPG Autogas) from any fuel stations including supermarkets, AA products and services purchased directly from the AA.
