Running out of time to buy the essentials?

Don't panic - the AA has shops at Folkestone and Dover to ensure that you are fully equipped with all the legal requirements when driving in Europe.

At both AA Shops we sell all the last minute legal requirements for driving in Europe, a range of travel guides, maps and atlases and much more.  You can even buy European breakdown cover or apply for an International Driving Permit at the desk in either shop.

The AA Shop: Eurotunnel

At the AA Shop: Eurotunnel, we welcome all Eurotunnel passengers and can be found in the main passenger terminal building.

We're open seven days a week from 06:00 to 20:00, but these hours may be extended during busy 'holiday' periods and bank holiday weekends.

Please phone ahead on 01303 272 275 for further information.

The AA Shop: Dover

The AA Shop: Dover can be found in the parking area, adjacent to the travel centre at the entrance to the Dover Eastern Docks.

Opening hours are from 07:00 to 15:00 Monday to Friday and 06:00 to 14:00 on Saturday.

The shop is closed on Sundays.

We recommend calling 01304 208122 in advance to check that the shop is open or for further information.

European Breakdown Cover

For extra peace of mind European Breakdown Cover can also be purchased at the AA Desk at both shops.

International Driving Permits

You can also apply at AA Dover/AA Folkestone for an International Driving Permit.

You may apply at the AA Shop: Dover (Eastern Docks Terminal) or, if travelling via Eurotunnel, the AA Shop: Eurotunnel (Eurotunnel Passenger Terminal). You must complete an application form and produce one of the following ORIGINAL valid documents:

  • your UK driving licence (if photocard licence, photocard and counterpart), or
  • your UK pass certificate (certificate of competence to drive, valid for two years from the date of your test), together with your provisional driving licence, or
  • your DVLA confirmation of entitlement to drive

You will also have to provide:

  • A recent passport size photograph on photographic paper signed on the back by you and showing full face against a light background (See photograph checklist on application form)
  • Your passport.

Application forms are available over the counter at the shops. Alternatively you can download an application form, complete it and take it (the original not a copy) with you.
