Set off the main road at Greta Bridge, this 17th-century former coaching house provides comfortable public rooms full of character. The bar, with its interesting Dickensian mural, is very much focused on food, but in addition a fine dining is offered in the oak-panelled restaurant. Bedrooms come in individual styles and of varying sizes. The attentive service is noteworthy.
