Wentworth Club, the home of the PGA and World Match Play championships, is a very special venue for any sporting, business or social occasion. The West Course is familiar to millions of television viewers who have followed the championships here. In recent years it was felt that in certain key areas the West Course no longer played quite as Colt had intended and so a process of modernisation and restoration was undertaken by Ernie Els, involving extensive re-bunkering and lengthening of certain holes, where appropriate. There are two other excellent courses, the East Course and the Edinburgh Course, and a nine-hole par 3 executive course. The courses cross Surrey heathland with woods of pine, oak and birch.
