How Lessons Have Changed
In the last 10 years, roads, signs, speed limits and the volume of traffic on UK roads have all changed dramatically. Driving lessons and the driving test have had to change to help new drivers cope with more potentially hazardous driving conditions.
AA driving school lessons and tests follow an approved syllabus, with a written driver record to chart progress in 18 different areas. Learners need to prove they can handle each area independently before they are considered ready for the practical test.
A new three-part test
Before you can take a practical driving test, you must have passed a multiple-choice touch-screen theory test, and a video clip hazard perception test.
Pass both at the same time, and you can go on to sit the practical test with its 'show me, tell me' vehicle maintenance section.
