Originally opened in 1832, the gardens include the Tropical House, which has a 24ft-wide lily pool and lush vegetation. The Mediterranean house features a wide variety of citrus fruits and the Arid House has a desert scene with its giant agaves and opuntias. Outside, a tour of the gardens includes rhododendrons and azalea borders, 7000 plants and shrubs and a collection of over 200 trees. Young children's discovery garden and a sculpture trail. There are a large number of events to choose from, contact the gardens for a brochure.
