Moreton Corbet Castle

MORETON CORBET,

Write a review

Inherited by the Corbets in 1235, who are thought to have remodelled the great keep, this castle may already have been standing for over 100 years. It was remodelled in the 16th century and then partially demolished to make way for a great Elizabethan mansion. Although damaged in the Civil War, the castle and mansion stand today as one of the most picturesque ruins of the Shropshire Marches.
