Caerleon Roman Fortress and Baths

CAERLEON, NP18 1AE

Write a review

Caerleon was an important Roman military base, and came fully equipped with what would have then been a state-of-the-art leisure complex, including heated changing rooms, cold and warm baths, covered exercise rooms and an open-air swimming pool. The remains of the complex give visitors a vivid picture of life for the Romans in 2nd century Britain. Nearby is an amphitheatre that was long ago used for gladiatorial sports and other entertainments.
