The Banqueting House, Whitehall
Whitehall,
LONDON,
SW1A 2ER
Write a review
Designed by Inigo Jones, this is the only surviving building of the vast Whitehall Palace, destroyed by fire 300 years ago. The Palace has seen many significant royal events, including the execution of Charles I in 1649. The Banqueting House's Rubens ceiling paintings are stunning examples of the larger works of the Flemish Master, and its classical Palladian style set the fashion for much of London's later architecture.
