Hatfield House, Park and Gardens

HATFIELD, AL9 5NQ

Write a review

The house, built by Robert Cecil in 1611, is the home of the 7th Marquess of Salisbury and is full of exquisite tapestries, furniture and famous paintings. The 42 acres of gardens include formal, knot, scented and woodland areas, and reflect their Jacobean history. There is also a traditional rare breeds farm and adventure play area. The Tudor Palace of Hatfield, close by the house, was the childhood home of Elizabeth I and is where she held her first Council of State when she became Queen in 1558.
