COWSHILL, Weardale, DL13 1AR

Write a review

Equipped with hard hats and lamps, you can explore the working conditions of Victorian lead miners. The lead mine and 19th-century crushing mill have been restored to look as they would have done in the 1870s, and the 34ft water wheel has been restored to working order. There is also a visitor centre and mineral exhibition, a woodland walk, children's play area and red squirrel and bird hides. Please ring for information on workshops and events.
