In its newly refurbished Fields restaurant, Stone Manor makes space for appealing modern brasserie food. Flambé dishes cooked before your delighted eyes have been productively revived, so that beef fillet or chicken breast can be set alight with vodka or brandy. Before that, the more modernist likes of pork belly terrine with kiwi, raisins and sweet potato crisps in cider and ginger glaze might have set things on a course that continues with grey mullet and mussels with lemon and redcurrant couscous in saffron and parmesan cream. Finish with spiced plum crumble, served with sweet plum gnocchi, honeycomb and cinnamon crème fraîche.
