The Rosette award for this establishment has been suspended due to a change of chef and reassessment will take place in due course; Niall Keating is now at the stoves here and his blend of modern British with Asian influence has created a new dining experience. The manor house is late Victorian and was originally part of the farmland estate of a rear admiral and his family. Its winning good looks made it perfect for transformation into a magnificent country-house hotel. There's a strong sense of stepping back in time as you pass through the huge doors, although the principal dining room is an understated modern place, with cream walls, bare floors and a measure of space around each table.
