Some parts of the cottagey Riverbarn date back 600 years or so and the place has served the community in various ways over the centuries. The idyllic riverside setting plays its part in setting the mood, as does the charming service, with the simple decor and relaxed atmosphere recalling similar places across the Channel. Local produce and evident modernity appear in the construction of dishes in starters such as mullet céviche with crispy mullet and pickled ginger, for example. Roast rump of Wilshire lamb is a fine main course, cooked just right, or go for hake from south western waters. Finish with limoncello parfait with English raspberries and mint syrup.
