The order of the day here is fuss-free cooking and friendly hospitality. Expect a personal welcome and a pleasant atmosphere, with relaxing garden views and an emphasis on quality ingredients. Starters offer a good mix of textures and flavours in the form of Gloucester Old Spots ham hock and wholegrain mustard terrine with tangy home-made piccalilli and toasted onion bread. Local pheasant breast, Savoy cabbage leg meat parcel, champ, and juniper jus is the kind of main that might appear on an autumn menu, finishing with a dessert of salted caramel crust warm chocolate brownie with Morello cherry ice cream.
