Accessed via a narrow alleyway just off Linlithgow's bustling high street, this family-run restaurant has a surprisingly tranquil setting with gardens and a clean-lined look of whitewashed walls and tiled floor. The small kitchen team combines modern and classic cookery with an emphasis on local produce. A starter of pan-roasted sea scallops with cauliflower (a caramelised purée and a carpaccio) and caviar dressing might be followed by roast saddle of Perthshire venison, fondant potatoes and game and wild berry jus. Desserts take in white chocolate parfait with raspberry sorbet and whisky gums, or thoroughbred Scottish cheeses.
