A harbourside warehouse makeover in red brick with eye-popping interior collisions of lime-green and violet, the Salthouse deals in brasserie food with look-at-me flavours. Cured trout with fennel and pickled beetroot, or a sauté of wild mushrooms with parmesan and truffle on sourdough toast, are precursors to duck breast, pork belly and cod, the last appearing in Spanish guise with butter beans, spinach and chorizo. A gin and tonic arrives a little later than is conventional, in a dessert of apple and Hendrick's jelly, with cucumber sorbet and lime granita, while the braised pineapple is alive with chilli. Old-school reassurance is on hand in the form of sticky toffee pudding.
