Health and fitness are top of the agenda at this impressive neo-Jacobean mansion with a spa, swimming pool, gym and health and beauty salon. So there's no excuse for not shedding the calories gained in the restaurant. The menus steer a broadly European course, with starters ranging from a warm salad of pigeon breast with carrot purée and parsnip crisps to smoked salmon Welsh rarebit. Main courses are a mixed bag, taking in burger with fries as well as the healthier option of steamed snapper fillet with steamed vegetables, prawns and ginger and soy sauce. Devil-may-care diners could end with sticky toffee pudding with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream.
