Eric and Beb Bruce's small restaurant blends in with the terrace of souvenir and tea shops facing Abraham Darby's World Heritage cast iron bridge. Inside, however, sunny yellow walls, bare wooden floors, unclothed tables and high-backed toffee leather chairs give an intimate brasserie look. Full advantage is taken of the local larder, supplemented by home-grown organic seasonal materials. Classical French influences are evident in starters such as a wild mushroom soufflé with crispy leeks and Madeira sauce, while mains partner fillets of sole and sea bass with vermouth and sorrel sauce. Puddings are Beb Bruce's domain - perhaps glazed lemon tart with passionfruit sorbet.
