The Olive Branch serves a fine pint of local ale as well as home-made mulled wine, sloe gin and fruity cocktails flavoured with foraged berries and herbs. It's clear that this is a kitchen with a passion for seasonal, local stuff and food that is big on flavour and with the easy-going atmosphere of the great British pub. Daily-changing menus and blackboards offer everything from classic fish and chips to pan-seared scallops with black pudding and quince, and a main-course haunch of venison with juniper fondant potato, braised red cabbage and roast parsnips that brims with rich flavours and hearty intentions. Finish with lemon verbena meringue pie with raspberry sorbet.
