When you don't require your food to push culinary boundaries or feature froths and gels, try Seeds, a little bistro with just 20 seats, run by an amiable husband-and-wife team. Mellow jazz floats around the artworks and curios decorating the low-beamed, slate-floored dining room as chef-patron Mark Seager turns out simple, tasty classic bistro dishes at the stoves of a bijou kitchen. Starters can be as simple as grilled sardines with salt and lemon, while mains take in rack of Welsh lamb with Dijon mustard and herb crust. Desserts follow the comfort theme - perhaps treacle tart with cream, or classic crème brûlée.
