Dating from the 17th century, the whitewashed inn has bags of character, with beams in low ceilings and stone fireplaces. You can eat in the bar or in the dining room. A starter of partridge pâté with a port-enriched blackberry sauce sounds straightforward enough, but the kitchen puts thought and effort into all its output, so it may also present main courses of fillet of monkfish wrapped in Parma ham with potatoes crushed with red pesto and salad, and a winter dish of slowly cooked venison shoulder with celeriac mash and seasonal vegetables. End memorably with vanilla pannacotta with coffee and frangelico syrup.
