The sparkling-white hotel stands on a thoroughly enthralling spot under Table Mountain in a valley of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The relaxing dining room with tall plants and elegant furniture has views out towards the hills, and its bistro-style menu hauls in most of its prime materials from the family farm seven miles away in Llangynidr. Get going with chicken, parsley and mushroom roulade with Melba toast and pickled carrot, then move on to pheasant breast wrapped in bacon, served with bubble and squeak, braised red cabbage and gamey red wine jus. End with a Black Forest meringue ice cream bombe with Kirsch syrup.
